Buy the Boy Flowers Print
On Friday evening I was lucky enough to see @holliepoetry perform at @hackneyempire. Her poetry speaks from the head to the heart and vice versa. I was sent on a rollercoaster of emotions (more than normal) listening to and watching her performance. One minute I was laughing my head off and the next crying as I connected to the meaning of the words she read aloud.
This particular poem was introduced with the statistics that 88% of men have never received flowers and sadly, the first time many receive them is at their own funerals. This sent me down a rabbit hole as it really does represent the expectations of society.
The poem is called ‘Buy the Boy Flowers’ and it inspired this artwork.
I highly recommend listening to @holliepoetry poetry as an audiobook. I ran out of audiobook credits in one day…
